Aug. 24—SANTA CRUZ — NAMI hosts mental health basics classes

NAMI Santa Cruz County, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will be offering a basics class this fall. This is a free, six-session education program for loved ones of teens with mental health challenges.

The fall session begins from 6-8:30 p.m. for six weeks via Zoom.

Family members, friends, and caretakers who are supporting a child or teen who is diagnosed with, or experiencing warning signs of, a mental health condition are encouraged to join. Topics in the class include up-to-date information on various mental health conditions, helpful communication and problem solving skills, working with and finding providers, family impact, crisis management, and more.
